No New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Andhra Pradesh on Monday in Two Years

For the first time since COVID-19 pandemic hit India, Andhra Pradesh reported no new infection on Monday. It does not mean the state is COVID-free yet as it still has 22 active cases. According to the state Medical and Health Department data, during the last 24 hours ending at 9 AM on Monday, a total of 2,163 sample tests were conducted and these tests turned out to be negative. During this period, 12 more patients recovered from the virus. 

The gross positive COVID-19 cases are 23,19,662 and the recoveries touched 23,04,910 till date. While the overall death toll remained at 14,730 as no fatalities were reported in more than a month in a row.

As per the last daily bulletin released by the COVID-19 command control room on April 23, two new cases were reported, one each in Krishna and Visakhapatnam districts. Prior to this only one infection was registered on April 21 in newly formed NTR district and on April 20, one infection was reported in Visakhapatnam district. 

At the national level, India’s daily COVID-19 cases are consistent for a few days. 2,483 new Covid-19 infections were reported in the last 24 hours ending 8 am on Tuesday in the country. The active cases have also dropped from 16,522 to 15,636 and the positivity rate declined to 0.55 percent. During this period, 1,399 Covid-19 related deaths have also been reported across the states. 

Meanwhile, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh have issued fresh guidelines on Monday making masks mandatory again in public places.
