Furious Sakshi Dhoni Rubbishes '#DhoniRetires' Rumour

NEW DELHI: '#DhoniRetires' is the hashtag that has once again is captivating everone on the social media of late. And Mahendra Singh Dhoni's wife Sakshi Singh took to social media on Wednesday to rubbish the talk. She described them as mere rumours which claimed that the World Cup-winning former captain has retired after #DhoniRetires was one of the top trends on Twitter.
Sakshi reacted strongly to these rumours by posting an incisive tweet but deleted it later after that too went viral on the social media platform.
Sakshi Singh Dhoni clearly livid the constant swarm of rumours about her husband's retirement. Whether the former India captain should play on or retire is one of the most debated aspects of Indian cricket in the recent years. 
Unable to hold her emotions on the trending Dhoni Retires hashtag, Sakshi said the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic has 'made people mentally unstable'.
"Its only rumours ! I understand Lockdown has made people mentally unstable ! #DhoniRetires .. Get a life ! (sic)," Sakshi Singh wrote on Twitter.
On Wednesday evening, #DhoniRetires became one of the top trends on Twitter in India. Several users added their own bit to the speculations while Dhoni's die-hard fans maintained that the trend was a mere rumour.
'It's called rumours'
This is not the first time Sakshi has had to intervene and refute reports of Dhoni's retirement. In September 2019, Sakshi took to social media and rubbished rumours surrounding Dhoni's future.
"It's called rumours," she had written on Twitter.
There has been intense speculation over MS Dhoni's international future ever since India's greatest captain took a sabbatical from competitive cricket following the 2019 World Cup semi-final debacle.
Dhoni hasn't played international cricket since India's defeat to New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. Dhoni missed several series in the home season of 2019 and also missed the high-profile tour of New Zealand earlier this year.
The Indian team management, including head coach Ravi Shastri, however only added to the intrigue when they did not rule out Dhoni's chances of returning to the senior national team. Former chief selector MSK Prasad had said that they were looking beyond Dhoni and keen on giving chances to youngsters, especially Rishabh Pant.
Despite the intense talk, the man at the centre of it as usual remains stoic in his silence. Dhoni geared up for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 which has been suspended until further notice due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Dhoni trained with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai before the camp was suspended due to the pandemic in March.
Meanwhile, Dhoni's India and CSK teammate Harbhajan Singh, during an Instagram chat with Rohit Sharma, said he feels the World Cup-winning wicketkeeper doesn't want to play for India again.
"He wants to play IPL 100 percent. But one needs to know his take on whether he wants to play for India anymore or not. I think he doesn't want to play for India again. He has played so much for India.
"As far as I know him, he doesn't want to wear the blue jersey again. He decided that India's last match in the World Cup was his last. A few people have also told me that this is the case," Harbhajan said.
