SC Gives Deadline For ECI To Act On Representation For Modi And Shah Violating MCC     

New Delhi: On Thursday The Supreme Court had come down hard on the Election Commission of India (ECI). They had directed the ECI to see that a decision was made about the complaints lodged by the Congress of the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah.

The EC had communicated to the Bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi that a decision on two of the 11 cases, that were filed by the Congress about Modi and Shah violating the MCC, have already been made.

A senior advocate by the name M Singhivi appearing for Congress Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, who has filed a petition in the apex court on the issue has said that even after 11 representations were given to the EC against Modi and Shah, only two have been decided upon.

"The remaining representations of the petitioners shall be decided by the Election Commission before we hear the matter again on Monday (May 6)," said the bench also comprising Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna.
