Telugu NRI Quits High Paying Job in Australia To Develop Native Village in Sangareddy

Sangareddy: Giving back to society can do wonders for the development of any place. Yeddumailaram a village in Kandi Mandal stood brave in showing transformation when given support in development. All the development of the village happened with the youngsters working under the leadership of Kasala Malla Reddy, who gave up a well-paying job in Australia and returned to his native land.

Malla Reddy and his committed team worked hard to transform the place in two years. The panel won 10 of the 16 wards and bagged the sarpanch post by a margin of over 700 votes in 2019.

Gaddameeda Lakshmaiah Goud, a village elder, said that the roads once were very dirty filled with rags. She mentioned, now the roads are very clean, and even the tiniest ant can be seen. And all this happened only in these couple of years.

Malla Reddy graduated in Home Science, worked in Australia for four years earned over Rs 2 lakh per month. He dreamt of setting up a restaurant back home, so he returned to India. With a few of the unwanted things happening around him he changed his mind about the restaurant set up.

His father and another person in the village died after excessive consumption of liquor, Malla Reddy, and his friends forced all the belt shops to shut down. With things not working on his side, Malla Reddy decided to contest for the sarpanch election, setting aside his restaurant dream. Because he believed in having authority will help him work well for his village.

With the encouragement of family and friends, Malla Reddy was keen on working without any political affiliations. He decided to accept only youth and selected women in reserved wards. His panel won 10 of the 16 wards. Malla Reddy, being 29 years old stands as the youngest sarpanch of the village.
