Goa Tourism Department Issues Notice To Yuvraj Singh Over His Villa
The Goa Tourism Department has issued a notice to former cricketer Yuvraj Singh for allegedly renting out his mansion in the state's Morjim region without registering it with the appropriate state authorities. The government also scheduled a hearing for Singh on December 8.
"It has come to our attention that your residential premises located at Varchawada, Morjim, Pernem, Goa are allegedly functioning as a homestay and are being marketed on online platforms such as 'Airbnb," the notice stated.
The notice further specified that anybody planning to set up a hotel or guest home must first register for registration with the appropriate authorities.
"The Tourism Department has requested that the cricketer appears in front of the deputy director on December 8 at 11 a.m. to defend his interest. If no response is received within the said date mentioned in this notice, it will be assumed that the grounds mentioned are correct. On such assumption under Section 22 or in violation of any of the provisions of this Act, you shall be punishable with a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh," it added.
