Telangana Govt to Deposit Rythu Bandhu For Kharif Crop into Farmers' Bank Accounts on This Day

Hyderabad: For the Vaanakalam (Kharif) crop season, all eligible farmers with pattadar passbooks as of June 10 and their information submitted into the Dharani portal will get financial support under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

S Niranjan Reddy, the Telangana Agriculture Minister, made the declaration to soothe the anxieties of farmers who had accounts with banks that had been merged with other banks.

From June 15 to 25, the State government will deposit the Rythu Bandhu sum of Rs 5,000 per acre in farmers' bank accounts for the Vaanakalam (Kharif) crop season.

Farmers who have bank accounts in merged banks that have not updated their IFSC numbers are recommended to meet with their local AEO (Agriculture Extension Officer) and submit information about their bank account, pattadar passbook, and Aadhaar card to the latter.

As a result, the government intends to update them by negotiating with the banks involved and depositing the funds.

Since December 2018, the state government has begun transferring Rythu Bandhu funds directly into farmers' bank accounts. Since April 2020, the IFSC codes of branches of some PSU (public sector undertaking) banks that were recently merged into other banks have changed.

There had been no hindrance in the distribution of the Rythu Bandhu sum until now, since the banks permitted the use of old IFSC numbers until March 31 this year, notwithstanding their merger. Although agriculture officials requested that farmers update their bank accounts with new IFSC numbers by June 10, there has been a lack of response, particularly in rural regions.
