Jagananna Sampoorna Gruha Hakku Scheme Benefits Reach Over 10 Lakh People

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on housing and directed the officials to identify alternative land for house sites facing legal problems without any delay. 

During the review meeting held at camp office here on Monday, the officials informed the Chief Minister that the state government has spent Rs 3,600 crore for the construction of houses in the last financial year in addition to the amount spent on house sites and added that the government would spend Rs 13,105 crore for construction of houses the current financial year and 35 lakh metric tons of cement and 3.46 lakh metric tons of steel would be used for the same.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that arrangements are made for distribution of house sites to 1.43 lakh beneficiaries after clearing legal hurdles in Visakhapatnam and construction of houses would start there by June. The government has made arrangements to construct houses in 63 layouts, they said. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to take measures to level the land, construct approach roads and provide water and electricity facilities in layouts.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that construction has started in 47 out of 66 godowns. The Chief Minister directed the officials to procure bulbs, fans, tube lights of good quality and warned of severe consequences over lack of quality in those materials. It is decided to felicitate public representatives who are actively participating in housing works. One sarpanch in each mandal, one councillor in a Municipality, one MPP and one ZPTC in each district would be given awards. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure basic amenities like drinking water, power and drainage in Jagananna colonies by the time construction of houses is completed and then proceed with other works on priority.

In regard to Jagananna sampoorna gruha hakku scheme, the Chief Minister said 10.2 lakh beneficiaries have availed the scheme of which registrations were completed for 6.15 lakh people and directed the officials to complete the registration to remaining people very soon. He directed the officials to focus on maintenance of TIDCO houses and prepare guidelines to ensure they are well maintained. The Chief Minister directed the officials to give priority to the MIG Plots scheme in 116 constituencies where there are towns and cities. The officials said 4127.5 acres of land has been identified in 41 constituencies. The Chief Minister said these lands will be free of disputes and all standards will be maintained in development of infrastructure in these layouts and added that these government layouts should be considered an example for other layouts.

Energy, Forest, Environment and Mines Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, Chief Secretary Dr Sameer Sharma, Housing Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Y Sri lakshmi, Energy Secretary B Sreedhar and other officials were present in the meeting.
