Mission Bhagiratha Lifeline Of KCR Family: Madhu Yashki

AICC secretary Madhu Yashki - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: AICC secretary and former MP Madhu Yashki said that Mission Bhagiratha project was the lifeline of Kalvakuntla family. Hence the farmers were supplied water but water was being diverted to the project, he observed.

Talking to media here today, Madhu Yashki recalled that over last 20 years people from Korutla and 20 villages under Balkonda division were utilising the water through Kakatiya canal. Though there was 16 TMC of water in SRSP, water was not supplied to the farmers. He said the government was purposely driving farmers to problems.

In order to curtail any kind of protests by the farmers, the police has already converted SRSP into a fortress and deployed a huge contingent of its personnel only to create fear among the farmers, the AICC secretary pointed out. He said that the Congress party was severely criticising the government move.

Madhu Yashki alleged that only to supply water to Chief Minister and Minister's constituencies of Gajwel and Siddipet, they were stopping water for irrigation. He demanded agriculture minister Pocharam, Korutla minister Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao and MP Kavitha to react on SRSP issue. He pointed out that farmers were demanding just half a TMC of water, but the government was not bothered about the farmers' woes and was diverting the water to Mission Bhagiratha. "That was because that project has turned out to be their family lifeline," he reiterated. He demanded immediate release of water to the farmers failing in which Balkonda MLA Prashanth Reddy would quit his post.
