Telangana Heatwave: Red Alert For Several Districts

People across Telangana are continuing to face intense heatwave conditions as temperatures soar well above normal levels. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the extreme weather is likely to continue for the next four days, with several districts placed under a red alert due to severe heatwave conditions.

According to weather officials, maximum temperatures in many parts of the state are being recorded nearly 4 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Red Alert Issued In Multiple Districts

The IMD has sounded a red alert for districts witnessing extremely high temperatures, including Adilabad, Jagtial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla and Nizamabad.

Authorities have advised people in these districts to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.

Kotagiri Records Highest Temperature

On Monday, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at Kotagiri in Nizamabad district, where the mercury touched a scorching 45.6 degrees Celsius. The intense heat has disrupted daily life, with residents struggling to cope with rising temperatures.

Health officials have urged children, elderly people, and those with medical conditions to take extra precautions during the ongoing heatwave.

Southwest Monsoon Advances Further

Even as the state battles extreme heat, the southwest monsoon continues to make progress over several regions. The Meteorological Department stated that monsoon winds have advanced into parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, most areas of the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The monsoon has also entered some parts of the central Bay of Bengal, indicating gradual seasonal movement toward the Indian mainland.

Weather Systems Active Over Southern States

Meteorologists further revealed that a surface trough has formed extending from western Madhya Pradesh through central Maharashtra, Marathwada, north interior Karnataka, and up to south interior Karnataka.

In addition, a cyclonic circulation developed over the south coastal Andhra Pradesh region on Monday, which could influence weather patterns in the coming days.

Experts believe these developing weather systems may eventually bring relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions in parts of Telangana and neighbouring states.
