Hyderabad Metro Ticket Fare Hiked? HMRL Clarifies
The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has clarified that there is no immediate revision in metro rail ticket fares, dismissing rumours of a fare hike circulating on social media.
Officials explained that any fare revision is carried out under the Metro Railways Act, 2002, based on recommendations made by a Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) constituted by the Central Government.
The HMRL further noted that the last fare revision took place on May 24, 2025, following the FFC’s recommendations, and no new hikes are planned at present.
As per the current fare structure, the base fare is ₹12 for a journey up to 2 km, while trips between 2–4 km cost ₹18. Fares rise to ₹30 for 4–6 km, ₹40 for 6–9 km, and ₹50 for 9–12 km. Longer journeys are charged ₹55 (12–15 km), ₹60 (15–18 km), ₹66 (18–21 km), ₹70 (21–24 km), and ₹75 for distances beyond 24 km.
The Metro has also revised its service timings. From November 3, 2025, trains will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily from all terminal stations. This replaces the earlier extended schedule introduced in April, which allowed the last train to depart at 11:45 p.m. on weekdays.
