Bandi Bhageerath POCSO Case: More Trouble Ahead!?

 - Sakshi Post

The Bandi Bhagirath case in Telangana has taken another major turn after police added a new serious section against the accused. According to officials, the latest action was taken after the victim alleged that Bhagirath sexually assaulted her multiple times.

Based on the victim’s statement, police added Section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to the case. Legal experts say that if the allegations are proven in court, the accused could face a minimum punishment of 10 years in prison.

Earlier, police had already registered cases against Bhagirath under BNS Sections 74 and 75. In addition, serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were also filed. The case includes Section 5(l) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act, which deals with severe offences involving minors and carries strict punishment.

Investigators are currently collecting more evidence and examining all details related to the case. Police are also recording statements and verifying the allegations made by the victim as part of the ongoing investigation.

The case has now become a major topic of discussion across Telangana due to the seriousness of the charges. Legal experts say the addition of the new BNS section could make the case stronger if sufficient evidence is presented before the court.

Officials have not yet shared further details about the next stage of the investigation. However, police stated that strict legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the inquiry.

The incident has once again sparked conversations about women’s safety, protection of minors, and the importance of fast investigation in sensitive cases.
