Telangana Heatwave Continues, Monsoon Expected After May 26

People across Telangana are continuing to face intense summer heat as temperatures in several districts are touching 41°C to 44°C. Areas including Adilabad, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar have recorded very high temperatures over the past few days.

According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala on May 26 after passing through the Andaman and Nicobar region. Officials said that if weather conditions remain favourable, the monsoon may enter Telangana within four to five days after reaching Kerala.

Weather experts are expecting temperatures to gradually reduce by the first week of June, bringing relief to people suffering from the ongoing heatwave.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is likely in some districts on May 17. Areas such as Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubabad may receive scattered showers, which could provide temporary relief from the heat.

Officials warned that high temperatures are expected to continue across the state until the monsoon arrives. Even Hyderabad has been recording temperatures close to 40°C, with hot winds making afternoon conditions uncomfortable.

Health experts have advised people to avoid going outdoors between 11 AM and 4 PM unless necessary. They also suggested drinking plenty of water, coconut water, buttermilk and ORS solutions to avoid dehydration and heatstroke.
