YS Jagan Committed To The Welfare Of BCs: R Krishnaiah

YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with BC Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Former MLA and National BC Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah met YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today morning. Speaking to the media after the meeting, R Krishnaiah said that he had complete faith in the YSRCP leader and that YS Jagan had assured to fight for the cause of Backward Caste (BC) welfare and that he had full faith in him.

R Krishnaiah submitted a 14-page document listing out his demands. Speaking to the media after the meeting he said that 50% reservations should be allocated for OBC in the legislative bodies and requested YS Jagan to fight for this cause in the Rajya Sabha and put pressure on the lawmakers in the centre. He also requested YS Jagan to incorporate 15 of their demands in the election manifesto.

BC Welfare Act

As part of his demands, he said that BC Welfare act should be promulgated, where 50% reservations should be given for the BCs in the legislative bodies, Gram Panchayat, Panchayati Raj, Municipal and Local bodies. He also spoke about BCs reservation in the appointment of Supreme court and High Court Judges as per the population census, he said.

He also demanded that 25-50% reservation should be given in the fields of education and employment in the state, 27% to 50 % at the centre. He added that BCs should also be given constitutional rights, and a separate act called the BC Act should be brought in.

Modi being BC could do nothing for the BCs

He lauded that it was only the YSRCP who asked for the tabling of a private bill in the Rajya Sabha and that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who himself was BC was not able to do anything for them, he criticised.

He requested YS Jagan to ensure that the 50 % reservation for BCs in the legislative bodies is implemented. YS Jagan had responded positively to his request and told him that they would fight for the issue till the last three days of the Rajya Sabha session.

YS Jagan a man of action

When asked about the 'BC Garjana' he said that he would support any party or person who was focused on getting the BC reservation bill approved. R Krishnaniah said that YS Jagan was following his father Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's footsteps and he was a man of action, committed to his word, he concluded.
