Telangana Reports 71 New Cases, Tally Nears 2,000

HYDERABAD: In a significant spike in single-day coronavirus cases, Telangana reported as many as 71 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. With this, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 1,991.

Areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) contributed 38 out of the 71 new cases.
Among the remaining cases, seven were reported from Ranga Reddy district while six were from Medchal. One case each was registered in Suryapet, Vikarabad, Nalgonda, and Narayanpet. About 12 migrants, who had returned from other states, have also tested positive for the dreaded virus while four foreign evacuees have been infected with the virus.

The number of fatalities due to the virus rose to 57 after one more death was reported on Tuesday.
According to a daily COVID-19 bulletin from the state government, 120 patients have been cured and discharged from the designated hospitals, taking the total number of discharged patients to 1,284. There are 650 active cases of coronavirus in the state as on date, the bulletin stated.
