Two AP Farmers Rescued From Nivar Floods, CM Jagan Praises Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy

Heavy rains due to cyclone Nivar have disrupted normalcy in several parts of Andhra Pradesh since Wednesday night. Minor rivers and streams are in spate. Three farmers got washed away in floodwaters of Ragullavagu. Two of them were rescued whereas the other drowned. Along with revenue officials and fire services personnel,  Tirupati Urban SP Avula Ramesh Reddy rushed to the spot. He spoke to District Collector Narayana Bharath Gupta as the flood level was gradually rising and asked for a helicopter to rescue the farmers stuck in the floodwater. 

Chandragiri MLA and Government Whip Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy who arrived at the spot also took part in the rescue operation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy praised Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy for acting promptly and also the other members involved in saving the farmers.  SP Ramesh Reddy commended the efforts of Joint Collector Veerabrahmam, Tirupati RDO Kanaka Narasa Reddy, DSP Ramachandra, CI Anju Yadav and Fire Officer V Adinarayana Reddy.

Venkatesh, Prasad and Lokesh, three farmers from Kummaripalem, Chittoor district went to check their motors on Thursday as they will be damaged by the rains. They got washed away in the floodwaters of Ragullavagu. All of them scaled a tree to safety and cried for help. TUDA Chairman and government Whip Chevireddy who got to know the information through the CM’s office rushed to the scene and supervised the rescue team. Two farmers have been rescued whereas Prasad got washed away. Srikalahasti MLA Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to the NDRF team for rescuing the stranded farmers.
