Punganur /Chittoor: Punganur Assembly constituency - Punganur Vidhan Sabha (165) is located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the 14 constituencies in this district and comes under the Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency.

As per the estimates of 2011 census, out of total 293170 population 81.33% is rural and 18.67% is urban.

According to the voter list of 2018, there are 208289 voters and 267 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout in the 2014 assembly election was 84.2%. The BJP, the INC, the YSRCP and the TDP got %, 1.2%, 56.47% and 39.34% votes in 2014 Assembly Elections.

He has been nominated as the YSR Congress Party candidate for the 2019 elections. He defeated TDP candidate M Venkataramana Raju by a majority of 31731 votes in 2014 .He has been nominated again as the YSR Congress Party candidate for the 2019 elections.

N Anusha Reddy, the sister- in- law of TDP Minister Amarnath Reddy has been selected as the TDP candidate for Punganur.A rank newcomer to politics, she tried to contest under the Praja Rajyam Party ticket in the previous elections and was unsuccessful.

She somehow convinced her family members and Amarnath Reddy and managed to get the TDP ticket from N Chandrababu Naidu.

An old war horse Peddireddigari Ramachandra Reddy has extensive political and administrative experience in the region. He was also the environment minister in the YSR cabinet in 2009.

A favourite to retain the Punganur seat with his experience and his connect with the people of the region spanning four decades, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy is likely to win the elections hands down in 2019 Elections as well.
