Telangana Intermediate Results 2019 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Three more Intermediate students, including two girls , allegedly committed suicide due to failure in their exams across Telangana over the past 24 hours, police said Wednesday. With this, the number of students, who allegedly committed suicide since the past few days, has gone up to 13, they said.

In a related development, protests against the alleged goof-up in the declaration of Intermediate exam results continued Wednesday with agitated students and their parents assembling near the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) office here.

Members of different student organisations were also present, seeking justice for students declared failed in the recent exams.

Police said an 18-year-old boy, who failed in Economics and Civics subjects, was found hanging in a shed in the premises of a school at Madur in Medak district around 6.30 am Wednesday.

On Tuesday late afternoon, a 17-year-old girl allegedly set herself ablaze at her house in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, they said, adding neighbours found her dead. The reason attributed for her to resort to the extreme step was that she failed in Civics subject, police said based on preliminary investigation.

In another incident, a 19-year-old second-year Intermediate student, who had failed in Physics and Zoology, hanged herself at her house in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district Tuesday night, police said. According to her family, she was depressed after failing in the two subjects, another police official said.

Some student organisations and political parties, who have been holding protests in the city and across the state, alleged that as many as 17 students across Telangana have committed suicide since April 18 as they failed or performed poorly in the Intermediate exams.

Many students and parents have been agitating against the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education alleging "goof-up" in the paper valuation and have been demanding a thorough re-verification of the papers of those who had failed. The parents alleged due to the board's "negligence" the students were failed or got very less marks.

The state government has already constituted a three-member committee to look into the allegations of irregularities in the declaration of the results.(PTI)
