Receptionist goes missing; family blames husband

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old receptionist working at a diagnostic centre in Langar Houz, Hyderabad went missing after she reportedly left the office on Saturday evening informing the manager that she was going home.

Sabita, who works at Perfect Diagnostic Centre, is married to a businessman, Subhash, of Ambedkar Nagar in Langar Houz. The couple has two children.

On Saturday morning, Sabita went for work from her parents' house. "At 3 pm on Saturday, Sabita left the diagnostic centre. As she did not reach home, Subhash lodged a missing complaint with us on Sunday morning," Langar Houz inspector Md Javed said.

During the preliminary probe, police came to know that Subhash has been subjecting his wife to physical harassment, suspecting her fidelity. "On Friday evening, Sabita told her parents that Subhash had physically assaulted her. Subhash also kept Sabita's cell phone in his possession to prevent her from talking to unknown persons," the inspector said.

Sabita's family members alleged that Subhash might have harmed her and then lodged a missing complaint to cover his tracks.

Police have registered a missing case and started a search operation.
