HYDERABAD: The Banjara Hills police on Thursday, detained one person on suspicion of making extortion calls to AIMIM Karwan MLA Kauser Mohiuddin demanding Rs 50 lakh and  threatening to kidnap his son.

It maybe recolllected that the MLA had  lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police on Monday after recieving the call while he was coming back from Siddipet..

The Police after tracing the call details based on the number furnished by the MLA, have taken into custody a youth who allegedly made the extortion call. As per reports the 21-yearold  told the police that around two months ago the MLA’s son had a fight with in Humayunnagar and bearing grudge the man had made this phone call.

AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin from the Karwan Constituency in the Old City lodged a complaint at the Banjara Hill police station on Monday about an extortion call demanding Rs 50 lakh from an unidentified number.

As per reports, the AIMIM MLA said that while he was coming from Siddipet town after a visit there, he received a call from an unknown number. The person demanded that the MLA pay Rs 50 Lakhs. The called said that if he didn't cough up the money, he threatened to kidnap his son.

After reaching the city, the MLA went and lodged a complaint at the Banjara Hills police station.

The MLA on the instructions of the AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi  had gone to Siddipet District and held a review meeting with AIMIM Unit on the current situation and party activities. Kausar Mohiuddin's wife Najma Sultana was a corporator from the same party representing the Nanal Nagar constituency earlier.
