2 killed In Road Accident In UP's Ballia

Ballia : Two persons were killed when an unidentified vehicle rammed into their motorcycle in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said Wednesday.

The accident occurred near Pandey Pokhra here Tuesday evening, they said.

Rohit Turha (22) and Rakesh Rajbhar (12) were going to Bansdih when the unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle and fled the scene, police said.

Turha and Rajbhar died on the spot and their bodies were sent for post-mortem, they said.

Efforts are on to nab the absconding driver, police said

Man involved in dacoity arrested After An Exchange Of fire

New Delhi:A man involved allegedly in a dacoity case was arrested after an exchange of fire near the Khajuri flyover in northeast Delhi, police said Wednesday.

The accused was identified as Rohtash - a resident of Mukund Vihar in Karawal Nagar.

The accused was involved in a dacoity at Muthoot Finance and another case of robbery at Sunlight Colony besides other similar cases.

"An exchange of fire took place on Tuesday at about 11 pm near Gali Mandu underpass near Khajuri flyover between the police team and Rohtash," PS Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said.

The bullet fired by Rohtash hit the bullet proof jacket worn by a constable of the special cell team, he said. PTI

19-Yr-old HSC Student Commits Suicide

Aurangabad, May 29 (PTI) A 19-year-old student allegedly committed suicide after checking her Class 12 examination result in Aurangabad city of Maharashtra, a police official said on Wednesday.

It was not yet clear whether she passed or failed as her family was in grief over her death, he said.

Kiran Gulab Chavan, whose father is a daily wage labourer, went to her college on Tuesday to check her result in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board in February-March.

After returning home in Mukundwadi area, she did not tell her parents about the result.

She allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling in a room with a stole while her parents were having lunch in another room, the official at Mukundwadi police station said.

When her parents did not get any response after continuously knocking at her door, they broke it open and found Chavan hanging, the official said.

They pulled her down and rushed her to MGM Hospital where she died during treatment, he said.

The parents told the police that their daughter was apparently anxious about her HSC result, the official said.

They said they were unaware about her examination result and that there was no study-related pressure on her from their side, he said.

An accidental death report was registered and a probe was underway, he added. PTI

Eight booked for attempting to rape differently-abled woman, killing her son in R'than Jaipur, May 29 (PTI) Eight persons have been booked for allegedly attempting to rape a 28-year-old differently-abled woman and killing her son in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, police said Wednesday.

The woman, who worked in a brick kiln owned by four of the accused, lodged an FIR on Monday at the Nadbai police station, they said.

She alleged that the accused barged into her temporary residence at night on May 12 while she and her son were asleep and tried to rape her, the police said.

They strangulated her eight-year-old son when he tried to intervene, they said.

The complainant further alleged that the accused threatened her with dire consequences so she could not report the crime before the last rites of her son, they added.

"Based on the woman's complaint, we have registered a case of attempt to rape and murder and under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act," deputy superintendent of police, Bharatpur (rural), Parmal Singh Gurjar, said.

No arrests have been made so far and an investigation is underway, he said. PTI

Yemen National Commits Suicide In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 29 (PTI) A 24-year-old Yemen national allegedly committed suicide at his house here reportedly upset over the death of his fiance in the gulf nation, police said Wednesday.

Mohamed U Ali, pursuing a degree course herehanged himself from a ceiling fan in his house on Monday evening, they said.

A few months ago,Ali was engaged to the woman who lives in Yemen, but she "died of cancer" recently, a police official said based on preliminary investigation.

A suicide note purportedly written by Ali was found in the room in which he stated that he went into depression after the death of his fiance and that "he too wanted to join her" and resorted to the extreme step.

Ali's friends said he was under depression for the past few days, police said adding a case of suicide was registered.
