Hyderabad: The body of Srilatha, an NRI, who allegedly committed suicide in Mumbai following dowry harassment by her husband, was shifted to her in-laws house in Habsiguda on Wednesday. The atmosphere at Srilatha’s in-laws house remained tense with her relatives gathering there to protest the alleged harassment by her husband.

According to police, Srilatha was married to one Juvvandi Vamshi Rao in 2011. The couple moved to London in 2012 and had been living there. She was allegedly harassed by her in-laws and husband for dowry after she gave birth to a baby girl. Unable to bear the harassment, she attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train last year in London.

Following the incident, she moved to her maternal uncle’s house in Mumbai and has been living there for last 10 months. As she felt that nothing positive was coming out of her family life, Srilatha ended her life in Mumbai at her uncle’s house.
