Praja Vedika Demolition Reflects YS Jagan’s Resolve To Stamp Out Corruption - Sakshi Post

In a decision of far-reaching consequences, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered the demolition of the illegally constructed conference Hall, Praja Vedika at the collector's conference in Undavalli on Monday. |In taking this historic decision, the AP CM sent a clear signal to members across all political parties, as also the people at large. YS Jagan added that those in power should lead by example and question what authorities would do when the common man indulged in violation of rules and laws. YS Jagan pointed out that Chandrababu Naidu and his party men heady with power thumbed their nose at all rules and razed illegal constructions along the banks of River Krishna. If Praja Vedika was one such glaring symbol of misuse of authority, a much bigger example was the illegal structure which stood next to it complete with a swimming pool and several other luxury amenities built at taxpayer's expense. And this happens to the residence of the former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The fact that YS Jagan made this announcement at a conclave of IAS and IPS Officers reveals his intent. Illegalities of any kind should not be encouraged by public representatives or officials concerned. He even went so far as to say that if any of his own party men were to seek favours from the officials which were irregular or unlawful in nature, these should be brought to his attention.

For the first time perhaps, in the history of Andhra Pradesh, a chief minister has taken such a bold stand on corruption and illegal activities. He pointed out how Praja Vedika was built at a cost of Rs 8.9 crores inflating the costs from preliminary estimates of Rs 5 crore. In making this momentous announcement of demolition of Praja Vedika and hinting at similar action against other illegal structures across the state, YS Jagan sent out a firm message that his there would be zero tolerance to corruption under the YSRCP regime.
