Amravati: A six-time MLA from Punganur in Chittoor district, Peddireddy Ramchandra Reddy is made the minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development; Mines and Geology in the YS Jagan Mohan government.

Known as a leader who does not speak much, Peddireddy Ramchandra Reddy is known for his political acumen and strategy. He is also the oldest minister in the YS Jagan cabinet.

Although a minister in the Punganur constituency, his political clout spans across Chittoor district and incidentally the seat of former Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu Kuppam falls under the district.

He has been a student political leader and holds a doctorate degree.

After YS Rajasekhara Reddy's unfortunate death, he left the Congress party and came with YS Jagan Mohan. He was the forest and environment minister under the YSR government in 2009.

In the 13 assembly constituencies in Chittoor district, barring Kuppam constituency which is represented by Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP swept all the 12 other constituencies.

In what the YSR Congress called a "socially-inclusive Cabinet," 25 new ministers were Saturday inducted into the Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's Council of Ministers in Andhra Pradesh.

State Governor E S L Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at a glittering public function adjacent to the Secretariat at Velagapudi in capital Amaravati.

The 26-member Cabinet, including the Chief Minister, has three women members; two from the Scheduled Castes and one from the Scheduled Tribes.
