YS Jagan To Likely Expand AP Cabinet On June 8

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy likely to form the Cabinet on June 8. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan might administer oath to the new ministers in the grounds near State Secretariat at Velagapudi.

YS Jagan who took oath as the chief minister on Thursday, is expected to constitute his ministry at one go. YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) sources said that he had already started the process to consult senior leaders for cabinet expansion.

The chief minister began meetings to review functioning of various departments on Friday, and is identifying the challenges and will accordingly select the ministers. Election of the Speaker and administering oath to newly elected MLAs will be on the agenda. Jagan, who is currently operating from his residence, will enter his office at the State Secretariat on June 8.

There is a possibility of including 15 ministers in his first Cabinet, and holding a special session of Assembly on June 11 and June 12.

A directive to this effect was made to Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam in a key meeting held with Assembly officials and has instructed the Assembly secretariat to make arrangements for the oath-taking ceremony of the new council of ministers which is likely to be held on June 8.

The Chief Minister took has already appointed the OSD and additional Chief Secretary on Thursday. P Krishna Mohan Reddy who was earlier the OSD to the CM when he was the leader of the opposition was appointed the OSD and K Dhananjaya Reddy was appointed as Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister. Damodar Goutam Sawang replaced RP Thakur and has taken charge as the new DGP (Head of Police Force) of the state.

Hours after he assumed office, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh decided to cancel all projects sanctioned prior to April 1, 2019 by the previous N Chandrababu Naidu government but work on which was yet to take-off. Setting pro-poor with zero tolerance for corruption as its motto, the YSRCP government took the decision even before new Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy is slated to undertake a review of the government departments in the first week next month.

Keeping in line with his promise of “revolutionary changes” in the governance, YS Jagan first gave his assent on a file hiking the existing pension given to old age persons to Rs 2,250 a month. The old-age pension henceforth will be called as YSR Old Age Pension. With each passing year, the pension will increase incrementally from Rs 2,250 to Rs.2,500 to Rs. 2,750 to Rs. 3,000
