Leopard On The Prowl At University of Hyderabad  

Hyderabad: Leopard scare is gripping the locals residing in and around the Hyderabad University campus. Last week, the leopard was first spotted at the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropic (ICRISAT) by personnel deployed at the Institute.

The animal was witnessed again on Sunday where the patrollers took pictures and videos of the leopard. They later shared those with the forest department.

In 2014, a leopard was caught in the ICRISAT campus.

Another instance of the leopard being spotted in the area has come to the light following which the wildlife officials have set up traps to relocate the animal.

Speaking to news agency PTI, a forest official, A Shankaran shared that they have installed 11 cameras at key locations around the area where the animal was spotted.

Efforts are also being made to ensure no local is put in danger. Last month, an advisory was issued by the University of Hyderabad asking the personnel, their families and students to be cautious while being outdoors and refrain from venturing out after dark. The University campus even was set up with trap cages and cameras to trap the leopard.
