TDP MLA Encroaches Upon Religious Site Amid Protests

Vijayawada: Tension prevailed in Vinchipet area in the city, where members of Muslim community staged a protest against the alleged encroachment of a religious site by the followers of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Jaleel Khan. According to the protesters, the MLA's followers threw away the religious belongings of the site, and made arrangements to set up a meat shop there.

YSR Congress party leader Vellampalli Srinivas condemned the alleged encroachment by the TDP leaders. Encroachments and atrocities against the minorities are on the rise under the TDP government, he said. The TDP leaders are answerable to the local Muslims and religious leaders on the issue, he added. MLA Jaleel Khan has a long history of encroaching upon lands, the YSRCP leader observed.
