Telangana: Wakf Board Allocates Rs 50 Lakh For Muharram

 - Sakshi Post

In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Telangana officials have decided to make Muharram a low key affair. Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Minister for Minorities Welfare Koppula Eeshwar held a meeting along with the officials from various government departments on the arrangements to be made for Muharram.

Public representatives belonging to various sectors of the Muslim community were also present at the meeting. Last year, the festival arrangements were not done on a big scale because of the government restrictions on public gatherings due to Covid-19.

Eshwar, who interacted with the members of the Shia community, assured that all arrangements for the Muharram festival will be made by the Telangana government. In this context, a total of Rs 50 lakhs has been allocated by the TS Wakf Board to the Minister for Minorities for making arrangements.

Government Advisor on Minority Affairs, AK Khan, Ahmed Nadeem, Principal Secretary Minorities Welfare Department and other officials participated in the meeting.
