Telangana Local Bodies MLC Elections 2021: Counting Underway Amidst 3-Tier Security - Sakshi Post

Counting of votes for the MLC elections 2021 under the local bodies quota commenced at 8 AM today in the State of Telangana amidst three-tier security at 8 AM on Tuesday. The results are likely to be declared at 12 noon.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goyal said that all arrangements have been made for counting. He said that six tables were set up in Adilabad, 5 in Nalgonda, 5 in Medak, 5 in Khammam, and 9 in Karimnagar.

The first set of ballot papers will be bundled as 25 sets each and then counted. The first preference votes are counted first. The CEO said that in Nalgonda and Medak there will more rounds of counting.  The counting process will be conducted under strict COVID protocol, he said. Only those with a two-dose vaccination certificate or RT-PCR negative report will be allowed as agents. Each table table has three staff and candidates can hire one agent per table.

After the results are declared only two candidates can go along with the winning candidate to collect the election certificate, he informed. Candidates have been strictly informed not to hold victory rallies after the results are declared.

The election schedule was released on the 9th of last month for elections to be conducted for a total of 12 MLC positions under the local body quota. Out of which, six seats were won unanimously. Of the remaining six, elections for two in the joint Karimnagar district and one each in the Adilabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and Medak joint districts were conducted on the  10th of December, where a total of 26 candidates were in the fray.
