Huzurabad Bypoll: Karimnagar CP Orders License Holders To Surrender Weapons

Karimnagar Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana has ordered all the persons licensed to hold weapons should deposit their arms ahead of the Huzurabad by-election. EC has announced the schedule for the Huzurabad by-polls.

According to Section 21 of the Arms Act, 1959, people who are residing within the Commissionerate and possessing licensed weapons must deposit their arms at their respective police stations or with licensed dealers. Weapons are deposited in the police station ahead of elections in the interest of public peace and tranquility.

He released an order in which he made it clear that cases will be filed against those who won't submit their weapons. He said that the deposited arms can be taken back on November 6th. He said that persons employed on guard duty in the premises of nationalised banks, public sector undertakings and security personnel are exempted. 

A notice released by the CP reads, "All the holders of arms licenses residing the limits of Police Commissionerate except those issued to persons employed on guard duty in the premises of nationalised banks, public sector undertakings and security personnel, sports persons who are members of the National Rifle Association at different levels and have to participate in sporting events in which they need to use their rifles, shall deposit their weapons with police stations concerned or authorised arms dealers."
