In a First, Centre Announces Outer Ring Rail Project for Telangana

New Delhi: The Central government will soon take up the Outer Ring Rail (ORR) project in Telangana soon, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy announced here on Wednesday. 

Addressing media persons in the national capital, the Union Minister said the proposed Outer Ring Rail project will run parallel to the existing ORR and it will cover several districts of the Telugu state. 

Reddy said the estimated cost for developing the Outer Ring Rail project would be Rs 26,000 crore. Giving details about the project he said under this project, several junctions will be formed in those areas and these junctions will connect the railway lines of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana districts like Guntur, Vijayawada, Nizamabad, Medak and Vikarabad. 

He informed that the details of the proposed project have already been shared with the state government. The centre has sanctioned Rs 14 crore to conduct a survey for the ORR (railway) project. The Centre would bear the 50 percent of the cost of land acquisition for this project, the minister added.
