Mother, Who is she? A selfless and loving person who has to give up many of her own wants and needs in order to meet those of her children. A mother puts in a lot of effort to groom  her child by giving required information, skills, and capacities so the child can grow up to become a competent adult. 

To acknowledge, to express our gratitude and our love towards her, and to celebrate her presence in our lives, every year on the second Sunday in May, we celebrate Mother's Day. This day is dedicated to our mothers, grandmothers, and other maternal figures in our life.

The Hindi film industry, nicknamed  Bollywood, has a number of films honoring moms. These Hindi films highlight the resilience, selflessness, and love of mothers while emphasizing their crucial responsibilities in forming the lives of their kids and families.

Here are some well-known Hindi films honoring mothers:

When we talk about an ideal mother in movies, we can’t help recalling the blockbuster movie of the yesteryears – "Mother India". This epic drama is regarded as a classic movie in the Hindi film industry which depicts the tale of a strong and determined village lady named Radha, who fights the odds to raise her boys and uphold her integrity despite numerous challenges in life

Another hit movie honoring the mothers is the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, "Deewaar". Although the plot of the movie mainly focuses on the conflict between two brothers, however, the role of their mother forms a crucial part of it. The story heavily relies on themes of a mother’s love, sacrifices, and moral compass.

"Baghban" is a family drama, which features Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, and explores the difficulties experienced by an elderly couple who depend on their children for assistance and care. The significance of honoring and cherishing parents, especially mothers, is emphasized in the film.

Aamir Khan's highly praised film "Taare Zameen Par" portrays the narrative of a young child with dyslexia and his transformational journey with the support of his helpful art teacher. In this movie, the mother of the youngster is shown as having unwavering love and support for her ward.

In the adorable comedy-drama "English Vinglish", Sridevi plays a middle-class Indian woman who struggles with her limited command over the Queen’s language. Her quest for self-discovery and the significance of her motherhood was highlighted in the movie.

"Nil Battey Sannata" is a motivational movie that centers on the bond between a single mother and her dyslexic daughter. It investigates the mother's steadfast desire to provide her daughter with a better future.

Sridevi plays the title character in Ravi Udyawar's Indian thriller “Mom”. The mother at the center of the narrative fights for her stepdaughter's justice after she was sexually assaulted. The movie highlights a mother's intense and unwavering love by exploring the extent she will go to in order to defend and uphold the rights of her child.

Numerous songs in various languages and genres are devoted to mothers. Here are some well-known songs that honor and praise mothers:

1. Shankar Mahadevan's "Maa" is a beautiful song that expresses a child's love and appreciation for his mother, recognizing her as a source of strength and guidance.

2. Kailash Kher's "Mumma ki Parchayi" is a happy and sentimental song that depicts a silly mother-son bond.

3. The timeless Bollywood song "Tu Kitni Achhi Hai" by Lata Mangeshkar honors a mother's unfailing love, concern, and selflessness.
