Ram Charan’s Peddi Inspired by a Real-Life Story

Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi is creating strong buzz among movie lovers. Now, director Buchi Babu Sana has shared the emotional real-life story that inspired the film’s lead character.

According to the director, the character of Peddi was inspired by a youngster named Peddi Raju from his village. He said the boy worked as a daily wage labourer but was extremely talented in cricket and basketball.

Buchi Babu revealed that people in the village would sometimes stop Peddi Raju from going to work just to make him play matches. Since he was very skilled, local teams even paid him money because he could help them win games almost single-handedly.

The director said he always felt there was a powerful cinematic character in Peddi Raju’s life. Over time, that thought became the main inspiration behind Peddi, and the entire story was developed around it.

Buchi Babu also shared an interesting detail about the script-writing process. He said he completed the story while sitting inside a temple and also during drives on Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road after receiving encouragement from filmmaker Sukumar. The director prayed that Ram Charan would accept the script without asking for changes, and surprisingly, that is exactly what happened.

In the film, Ram Charan will reportedly play a youngster working in a jaggery factory. Buchi Babu sounded very confident about the actor’s performance and said it would be difficult for him to create another character as powerful as Peddi in the future.

The sports action drama is being produced by Vriddhi Cinemas, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. Peddi is scheduled to release in theatres on June 4, 2026, while premiere shows are planned for June 3.
