Ram Charan Apologises After Viral Jasprit Bumrah Comment

Actor Ram Charan found himself at the centre of social media discussions after making a funny mix-up while praising Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah during the music launch event of the upcoming film Peddi in Bhopal.

The event was attended by celebrated composer A. R. Rahman, actress Janhvi Kapoor and actor Divyenndu. During an interactive session with fans, Ram Charan was asked to describe some of India’s popular cricketers in a few words.

The actor praised legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar by calling his career a “legendary journey.” Speaking about former Indian captain MS Dhoni, he described him as “cool and calm,” while current skipper Rohit Sharma was referred to as “everyone’s favourite.” For star batter Virat Kohli, Ram Charan used just one word — “Fire.”

However, things took an unexpected turn when he spoke about Jasprit Bumrah. In the excitement of the live event, Ram Charan accidentally mixed up cricket with football and said that Bumrah was taking football to greater heights.

The statement quickly went viral on social media, with fans sharing clips from the event across different platforms. Soon after the video gained attention online, Ram Charan issued a public apology on X.

In his post, the actor admitted that he sometimes gets confused with names and said the mistake happened unintentionally amid the excitement and crowd interaction. He also expressed his admiration for Bumrah and praised the fast bowler for making the country proud with his outstanding performances.

Ram Charan wrote that he has immense respect for Bumrah and remains a huge fan of his game. He added that the cricketer consistently puts batsmen under pressure and brings pride to millions of Indians with his achievements on the field.

Despite the mix-up, many fans reacted positively to the actor’s apology, calling the moment harmless and humorous. The viral incident has continued to trend online, adding more buzz around the promotions of Peddi.
