Stock Market Closed on Guru Nanak Jayanti

According to the official NSE trading holiday calendar, all major segments, including equity, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and currency derivatives, will be closed on November 5 for Prakash Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
This means there will be no stock market activity throughout the day.

Significance of Guru Nanak Jayanti

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab or Prakash Parv, marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism. The festival falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Kartik, which typically occurs in November each year.

The day is celebrated with great devotion and joy by Sikhs worldwide. Devotees participate in kirtans (devotional songs), processions, and community meals (langars) organized at Gurdwaras. The festival highlights Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of equality, compassion, service, and humility, values that continue to inspire millions around the world.
