Under Jagan Farmers Thrived; Under Babu Farmers Feel Abandoned

Accusing the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government of systematically betraying farmers, the YSRCP on Tuesday, November 18, demanded the immediate implementation of the Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme for all eligible beneficiaries and the uninterrupted supply of urea across the State.

Former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, addressing the media, launched a scathing attack on the TDP government, alleging that Chandrababu has “gone back on every single poll promise made to farmers.”

He pointed out that the Chief Minister promised ₹20,000 per farmer beginning June 2024, but not only did the government fail to deliver it in the first year, it has now reduced the payout to a meagre ₹2,300 in two instalments—a drastic rollback that he said exposes the government’s lack of sincerity.

“Beneficiaries Removed, Tenant Farmers Targeted”

Govardhan Reddy accused the government of deliberately shrinking the beneficiary list—from 53.58 lakh families earlier to just 46.85 lakh now—by deploying every possible excuse to eliminate eligible farmers.

He alleged that tenant farmers, heirs, and those on non-WEB lands were arbitrarily removed. He further claimed that the ongoing land re-survey has been misused to delete thousands of names and keep them in limbo.

The former minister contrasted the current crisis with the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy administration, claiming that the former CM ensured timely Rythu Bharosa, insurance support, e-crop services, RBK grievance redressal, and transparent CMAPP monitoring.

“Jagan gave ₹10,000 crore to farmers in the first year itself. This government has given excuses,” he said.

Urea Shortage: Farmers Forced Into Black Market

Govardhan Reddy said the ongoing urea crisis has once again exposed the “anti-farmer nature” of the Chandrababu government.

Urea, priced at ₹270 per bag, is allegedly being sold for ₹400 on the black market. Instead of addressing the shortage, the government has started issuing urea cards and rationing supplies—leaving farmers without the basic inputs required for cultivation.

He also alleged that the TDP cadre is cornering large quantities of urea and selling it at a premium, while the Agriculture Minister “lacks even basic understanding” of his department.

“Farmers Are Without MSP, Without Support, and Without Hope”

The YSRCP leader said farmers are not getting MSP for any crop and are being pushed into deeper distress while the coalition government “looks the other way.”

He declared that YSRCP will stand by farmers and wage a state-wide fight until:

All eligible farmers receive Annadatha Sukhibhava payments without conditions

Urea is supplied in full, without rationing

Black-market diversion is stopped

“The farmers of Andhra Pradesh deserve dignity—not deception,” Govardhan Reddy said.
