AP HC Issues NBW Against IAS Officer, DRDA Director For Contempt of Court
AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court recently issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) to former Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz and DRDA Project Director M Srinivasa Rao for contempt of court. AP High Court Justice Battu Devanand directed the Vijayawada Police Commissioner to enforce the warrant and produce the two officers before the court and adjourned the matter for hearing to July 28.
This was regarding matter pertaining to an issue related to the funds for a welfare scheme. As per reports twenty SC, ST and BC women from Chandralapadu village in Krishna district had approached the high court alleging that though they were eligible for the ‘YSR Cheyutha scheme they were not added to the beneficiaries list. On October 22 last year, the High Court directed the authorities to provide benefits to them. It is in this context that the authorities have sanctioned funds for the year 2020-21. The victims, however, filed a suit claiming that they were not given benefits for the year 2019-2020 and a contempt of court case was filed against the two officers.
Despite the case is coming up for hearing the former Krishna District Collector and DRDA Project director did not appear for the hearing on Wednesday. Not just them the lawyers on their behalf had also not turned up for hearing.
Upset over Imtiaz and Srinivasa Rao and their advocates not being present even as it was contempt of court case, the AP High Court issued a non-bailable warrants against both of them.
