Senior Telangana Officer’s Son Killed In Istanbul

Hyderabad: In a ghastly act, senior Telangana IAS officer Shashank Goel's son was brutally beaten and later shot dead by a gang of robbers in Istanbul, Turkey. The incident occurred on May 24 and came to light only on Monday when the body was cremated at Roorkee in Uttarakhand, the native place of Shashank Goel.

Shubham Goel is the eldest son of Principal Secretary (Labour), Government of Telangana. He and his friend decided to visit Istanbul before a scheduled return to California, where the deceased worked.

According to media reports, Shubham was vacationing with a friend in Istanbul when they were confronted by a group of armed robbers who demanded money. While Shubham’s friend Sudhanshu handed over his money, Shubham refused, following which the robbers attacked and shot him.

Shubham’s last rites were performed in Roorkee in Uttarakhand. He had last visited India to attend a wedding on April 28. Shubham was a graduate from Amity University in Noida and was working as a Deputy Manager at the Federal Bank of America.
