Mahesh Babu Trolled After AMB Theatres Get Notice On High Ticket Prices

Superstar Mahesh Babu is one of the busiest actors who has his hands full with movies and brand endorsement deals. He is worshipped as a movie icon by millions of fans. Last year, Mahesh Babu also launched 'AMB' theatre with state-of-the-art infrastructure. At the time of launch, many people claimed that common people can't afford to purchase a ticket in 'AMB' theatre. The ticket price of Mahesh Babu owned theatres are too expensive.

On the other side, Mahesh also gained some bad press when GST Commissionerate seized all the bank accounts of the Telugu superstar over non-payment of service tax of Rs 18.5 lakh. Ongoing reports suggest that Mahesh Babu's AMB theatre too has come under GST department’s scanner. The theatre is a joint venture between Asian Group and Mahesh Babu.

The buzz is that Mahesh Babu's AMB theatre has been booked under GST fraud. The IT sleuths who conducted a raid is believed to have learned that AMB cinema management hasn't slashed the ticket prices even after the central government notification. AMB Cinemas has reportedly pocketed Rs 35 lakhs in January 2019 alone while violating the anti-profiteering clause in the CGST Act. The multiplex authorities have been asked to cough up Rs 35 lakhs with immediate effect. As per the sources, the new ticket price of AMB theatres would be effective within two days i.e from February-22. AMB management has responded to the news saying they hadn't received any notice from GST officials. They reportedly said that they had only obtained a court order on fixing the price of ticket as per new GST guidelines.
