Anantapur: Police In the Dock After ‘Murdered’ Man Found Alive

T Srinivasulu  - Sakshi Post

Penugonda/Anantapur: A Penugonda man confirmed as murdered two years ago by the police, was found alive in the neighbouring town of Dharmavaram in Anantapur district on Saturday.

Getting in to the details, Tallari Srinivasulu (38) of Harencheruvu, was working as a daily wage labourer in a rice mill owned by Gangana Obireddy. On March 19, 2017, he had gone to visit relatives in the neighbouring town and went missing. His wife Chilakamma registered a missing complaint in the Chennekothapalli Police station. The Police started investigation and on April 4 they found an unidentified body in the Gollapalli reservoir in Penugonda mandal. The police identified the body to be that of Srinivasulu and handed over the body to his family members. The body was cremated and the case was also closed by the police.

The police arrested the rice mill owner Obi Reddy and his brother Bhasker Reddy, both of whom were the local YSR Congress Party leaders in the village on charges of murder. They harassed them and asked them to confess that they had committed the murder. It is alleged that then CI Yugandhar, SI Mahamood Rafi at the behest of TDP Minister Paritala Sunitha pressurised them and sent them to remand.

When the villagers found Srinivasulu roaming in Dharmavaram, they caught him and handed him over to the Chennekothapalli CI Sidda Teja Murthy, Tahasildar Tukaram and his wife.

Janardhan, the present SI of Penugonda said that it was true that a body found in the Gollapalli reservoir was declared to be that of Srinivasulu's and that the YSRCP leaders were sent to remand at that time. SI Linganna was the officer investigating the matter then and we will reopen the case and review it in the light of the Srinivasulu found, he said. Interestingly both Srinivaulu and the police are tight-lipped about the whole matter.
