Diwakar Travels Driver Misbehaves With Lady Passenger

Hyderabad/Amaravati: A bus driver on Tuesday physically assaulted a woman passenger who booked a ticket from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. She then, kept hearing threats from the driver all throughout the journey. Speaking to Sakshi, the woman shared the details of the incident. The woman, Uppalapadu Lata, hailing from Vijayawada is working in a software company in Hyderabad.

She booked a ticket via AbhiBus app in the Diwakar Travels bus to reach Vijayawada on Tuesday. The bus was scheduled to depart Kondapur at 2.20 pm but since the bus didn't reach the supposed stop, she reached another stop for the bus - Gachibowli with her friend's help.

However, the bus had not reached the next stop as well following which she informed the Abhibus officials who connected her to the driver via phone.

The bus driver, instead asked her to come to Lakdikapool and cut the call. While Lata reached Lakdikapool, the bus driver didn't stop the bus for her due to which she chased the bus to Mehdipatnam in her friend's vehicle. Upon forcing the bus driver to halt the bus, he abused her verbally hearing which she slapped him. The driver retaliated by hitting her back and kept abusing her. The passengers in the bus recorded the entire incident on their phones.

Meanwhile, Lata contacted the Suryaraopeta police who asked her to register a case after reaching Vijayawada. Lata also informed her parents regarding the incident. When the bus stopped near the Mamata Hotel in Governor's Park, her relatives forced the driver to apologize to Lata by making him touch her feet. Speaking to the media, Lata's father said that they had warned him from misbehaving with anyone in the future.
