Repolling In Five Centres In Andhra Pradesh 2019 - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: The Election Commission on Wednesday has decided to conduct re-polling in five polling booths in Andhra Pradesh on May 6.In a statement released on Wednesday, the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said that the re-polling will be held in the booths located in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts.

Gopal Krishna Dwivedi had earlier sent proposals to the Election Commission seeking repoll in five polling stations. As per the reports it was noted that many voters could not exercise their voting right mainly because of technical glitches in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). The other reason was due to the violence that took place on the election day in Inumetla, Gurzala constituencies in Guntur district allegedly perpetuated by the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

The Nellore district election authorities recommended repolling in Kovur and Sullurpet constituencies. There were technical problems in Kovur and Sullurpet constituencies, especially with the EVMs allocated for Lok Sabha seats which had malfunctioned.
