Centre Has To Decide On Kapu Reservations: Yanamala

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu made sensational comments on the Kapu reservations issue. He said the decision of Kapu reservation lies with the Central government and it was up to them to issue a clarity on the issue as it fell under its purview.

Talking to media here today, Yanamala pointed out that the Supreme Court had ordered against more than 50 per cent reservation. If we have to allot more than the capped percentage of reservation, a Constitutional amendment was necessary. He said that was not under the purview of state government and that only central government could do Constitutional amendment.

He further said that along with AP many states were demanding reservations. It was time all the states joined hands and strive to work for the cause. He demanded to know why the Centre was not reacting to the issue. A proper action by Central government was needed and should be added in the Ninth schedule, Yanamala added.
