YS Jagan Demands Ex-gratia to Bus Accident Victims 

Hyderabad: YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded Ex-gratia for families of the deceased and injured in the fatal bus accident. Slamming the TDP government for ignoring the major accident in the State, YS Jagan has demanded Rs 5 lakh to families of deceased and Rs50,000 Ex-gratia each for the injured persons.

Kakinada-bound private bus from Hyderabad plunged into an irrigation canal on the Khammam-Hyderabad highway, near Nayakangudem village in Kusumanchi mandal, at 2am on Monday. 18 persons were killed and 17 injured in the accident. The speeding bus rammed the parapet wall of the bridge, which is an accident-prone stretch, across the Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) left bank canal before nosediving into the irrigation channel.

YS Jagan has consoled the injured passengers at the hospital and families of those who were killed in the accident.

Speaking to the media, YS Jagan said: “Last month also a bus fell into the canal. A woman and an infant were killed in that accident. In less than a month, again one more accident took place at the same location. Frequently, accidents are taking place on this bridge, the state government should do something on this. I also request Telangana Chief Minister KCR to take care of bus accident victims.”

“Claiming that it was a private bus, the TDP government is trying to escape from its responsibility. Is traveling in a private bus an offense of the innocent passengers. Let’s not bother about whether it’s government bus or a private one. All private buses are operated by TDP leaders only. I demand Ex-gratia of Rs5 lakh each for families of those killed in the accident and Rs50,000 each for injured persons. The State government should act on humanitarian grounds,”said YS Jagan.

YS Jagan asked the hospital doctors about the conditions of the injured passengers and directed the officials to take care of them. “Even it’s a private bus, there should be third-party insurance. The government officials should act on this to speed up the process of insurance claims for the passengers. I am not here to talk about politics, but extend moral support to the families of died and injured passengers. I am not here to find fault with any one. Unfortunately a bus fell and several killed and injured in the accident. It takes at least six months for the injured passengers to recover. All these days, they wouldn’t be in a position to earn for their families. I demand Ex-gratia from the state government. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is totally ignoring the problems of people. “

YS Jagan has assured the victims of bus accidents of total support from YSRCP.
