Ali added that “We will not turn that dawakhana into a one-floor building but a 10-15 floor hospital that will be one of the few of its kind in India and the number of patients that seek medical help from the facility will be 10 times the number of people that come to the hospital currently. We will turn it into a high-level dawakhana and it will be named Osmania,”
When recommended that Osmania Hospital could be turned into a museum he said “where are we going to build a dawakhana? Do we want a museum or medical treatment?"
Mahmood Ali stated that the name of the hospital will remain the same in order to avoid uproar from the general public and added that Osmania Hospital should not be turned into a political topic for discussion.
Charminar serves as one of the most historical monuments in India; it was built in 1591 CE during the Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah regime. Osmania General Hospital was completed by 1919, it was designed by a British architect Vincent Jerome Esch, The hospital is considered to be one of the oldest hospitals in India.
