Victorious Roja to Attend Assembly from Friday

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party MLA R.K. Roja will attend the ongoing budget session of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Friday.After the AP-TS joint High Court issued an interim stay on her suspension from the Assembly on Thursday, a victorious Roja went to the office of the Assembly Secretary Satyanarayana to submit the court order. YSRCP MLAs extended a grand welcome to her. The session was adjourning for the day some time before she arrived at the Assembly.

Speaking to media later, Roja said her faith in the judiciary has been doubled with the High Court's order suspending her suspension. She argued before the court that representing her constituency people and voicing their aspirations in the Assembly was her right as an MLA. As the ongoing session is very important as it is the budget session, she sought an immediate relief from the court to enable her to attend the House proceedings.

Meanwhile, the ruling TDP is contemplating challenging the High Court order at a larger bench. Minister Achennaidu and MLA Bonda Uma Maheshwara Rao told media that the court order was not going to make any difference to the Speaker's decision as the judiciary has only limited powers to interfere with the legislature.

The TDP leaders said Yanamala Ramakrishnudu had rejected a court order in a similar case when he was speaker of AP Assembly. "We will take as steps to see that her suspension continues," they said.
