Telugus Equally Distressed At Jayalalithaa’s Demise

Jayalalithaa's contemporary actress Jamuna has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Puratchi Thalaivi. Reminiscing her association and interaction with the demised leader, the octogenarian said Jayalalithaa was a wonderful human being more than all her other dimensions. "When we met, she would behave like an innocent child and at the same time shower all love and affection, especially on the senior artistes," she recalled. Jamuna co-starred with Jayalalithaa in Srikrishna Vijayam in Telugu.
The icon of Tamil leadership, Jayalalithaa was no stranger for Telugus. With her superb performance in Telugu movies as a heroine along side the big stars of yesteryears NTR, ANR, Krishna, Shoban Babu, Jayalalithaa was equally a Telugu star as in Tamil. She did 12 movies only with NTR out of 29 she acted in Telugu.
Besides movies, Jayalalithaa had a close connection with Hyderabad as she owned a farm house on the city outskirts where she reportedly visited a few times.
There are supporters of AIADMK and fans of Jayalalithaa in the city who were shattered on learning of her demise.
Small pockets of the party’s supporters exist in many areas of Secunderabad, notably in Trimulgherry and Bollarum. Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation in September descended them into gloom and the community performed prayed for her recovery.
"The Tamil people and the AIADMK have lost a great leader. It is a sad day for us," said Sunder Krishnan, a resident of Bollarum. Mr. Krishnan, a former AIADMK party worker, said social gatherings of the Tamil community in Bollarum have been sombre ever since reports of her ill-health had trickled in earlier this year.
Some supporters from the city flew to Chennai to pay last tributes to the leader.
