MMTS Hits Intercity Train In Kachiguda Station in Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

HYDERABAD: At least 30 people were injured, when an MMTS train hit an Intercity Express train in Kachiguda station on Monday morning here. According to an official of the South Central Railway, the accident took place when Lingampalli-Falaknuma Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) local train hit the Kurnool-Handri Intercity Express, which was halted on the same track at Kachiguda station waiting for the signal. With the impact of the collision, three bogies of the MMTS train derailed and about 30 passengers were injured in the accident

The MMTS engine cabin was crushed in the impact ,while the Intercity train driver who was seriously injured was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials and Government Railway Police with the help of gas cutters are trying to rescue Sekhar, the driver of the MMTS who was trapped in the engine of the MMTS train. He was given water and oxygen supply to keep him resuscitated.

However, the SC Railway official said that the severity of the accident is little less as both the trains are moving slowly and they were within the station limits. The injured were shifted to Kachiguda Hospital immediately.Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav rushed to the accident site and enquired about the accident and rescue operations.

All trains plying in this route have been suspended till evening hours.Railway officials are conducting an enquiry as to whether it was a human error or signal failure that caused the accident.
