Jobless IAS Officer Quits Ahead Of Retirement In Telangana - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: An IAS officer currently working as director of oriental manuscripts library and research institute has sought voluntary retirement as he has "no work" in the present department.

The 2006 IAS officer, A Murali, is due to retire in 10 months.

"I request the Government to permit me to go for voluntary retirement with effect from August 31, 2019," he said in a letter to the Telangana Chief Secretary.

"I am a hard worker and I want do something after I come out of the service as I cant do anything here now.

Everyday I am coming to office, sitting in the chair and going...I don't have much work to do in this department.

I am idle for the past one and half year. After retirement I will work for social causes," Murali told reporters.

Murali had earlier worked as Collector of Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district.

He is the second senior All India Services official who has claimed that they had no work in their present posting.

Recently, VK Singh, a senior IPS officer posted as Commissioner, Printing, Stationery and Stores Purchase, had said he wanted to undertake a social awareness campaign including 'Swachhta Abhiyan' as there is apparently "no work" in his present post.

"As there is almost nil work in this charge and I can't sit idle, I want to do that I always cherish--launching a social movement to promote literacy, make a crime-free society, Haritha Haram, 'Swachhta Abhiyan', good governance, a corruption-free state and a vibrant democracy," Singh had said.
