She was Shobhamma to countless people and Shobhakka for YS Jagan - Sakshi Post

It was on April 24 last year that the dynamic woman leader of YSRCP Bhuma Sobha Nagireddy left us.

Though it has been one year, her memories continue to linger on and the people of Allagadda constituency remember her pro-people, no-attitude approach.
Sobha Nagireddy died in a ghastly car crash while her driver tried to negotiate a pile of grains spread out on the road on April 23 night. The impact of the accident was so great that she was flung out of the car. She suffered severe head and rib injuries and breathed her last in a city hospital.. Sobha Nagireddy was in the thick of electioneering on the fateful day. Countless people of Allagadda and politicians of all hues and shades tearfully attended her last journey. The town of Allagadda, which was her Karmasthali, turned into a sea of mourning humanity.
Sobha inherited politics from her father, who was a minister. Her husband Bhuma Nagireddy too is a key political leader in the Andhra Pradesh. Sobhamma, as she was respectfully called by the people of Allagadda, first contested elections in 1997 and was a four time MLA. That even after her death, the people of Allagadda elected an MLA with a staggering 18000 vote majority is a measure of her immense popularity. Her daughter Bhuma Akhilapriya was elected from the same constituency after her death. That arch political rival TDP chose not to put up a candidate against her shows how Shobhamma was respected among the political circles.
She was the chairperson of the APSRTC and was a minister in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. In fact, she was the first and the only woman chairperson of the APSRTC till date. After YS Jagan left the Congress, she was a pillar of strength to the party and worked incessantly to strengthen the party in Rayalaseema region. She was the member of the party's highest decision making body and toured the state incessantly along with YS Vijayamma and YS Sharmila. She is also credited  with unseating DL Ravindra Reddy in Mydukur assembly constituency. No wonder, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to her and called her his elder sister.
On this day, her first death anniversary, Sakshipost respectfully remembers her and pays its tributes to this great woman leader.
