‘Rally For Rivers’ Curtain Raiser Held In Hyderabad 

Hyderabad: A curtain raiser event to protect the rivers titled 'Rally For Rivers' was organized on Friday by Isha Foundation ahead of campaign that will start on Sunday.

Scores of people with placards, headgears, t-shirts, and stickers across Dilsukhnagar, Sainikpuri, Tarnaka, Begumpet, JNTUH cross-roads and Hitec City promoted the campaign from 8am to 11am. Actor Nagarjuna also joined the campaign and lent his support.

'Rally for Rivers' is a nation-wide campaign promoted by Isha Foundation to save rivers in the country and would see founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev himself ride about 7,000 km from Kanyakumari, covering 16 states to create awareness on the issue, a volunteer said. People can give a missed call to 80009-80009 as a vote fore protecting the rivers from depleting.

An expert committee of environmental scientists and lawmakers are in the process of drawing up a draft policy recommendation, which suggests that a simple yet effective means to replenish rivers is to create a kilometre-wide tree cover on riversides and half a kilometre for tributaries. On September 14 Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev will address the gathering at Gachibowli indoor stadium and he will attend the culmination programme on October 2 at Delhi.
